Te Kura aa Iwi o Ngaati Kauwhata was founded by the Oroua Trust and began operations as an offsite akomanga under Te Kura aa Iwi o Whakatupuranga Rua Mano at Kauwhata Marae in 2015. The education Team at Ngaa Kaitiaki o Ngaati Kauwhata Incorporated applied to become a kura under our own autonomy in 2022, and Minister Kelvin Davis approved the application. An establishment board was appointed In 2023 and we were able to operate independently as a fully funded kura in 2024 based at the former Chelthenham School.

 

Te Kura aa Iwi o Ngaati Kauwhata is based in our Iwi rohe of Ngaati Kauwhata and is part of the national Ngaa Kura aa iwi collective.
