TOIRANGATIRA

Pathways, Graduate Profile

Toirangatira reflects the journey of our mokopuna as they grow into confident, capable rangatira who are grounded in their identity and prepared to navigate multiple pathways beyond kura.

A graduate of Te Kura aa Iwi o Ngaati Kauwhata is Toirangatira – able to lead self and others with integrity, whakaaro nui and purpose. They leave kura with the skills, values and disposition to contribute positively to whaanau, hapuu, iwi and the wider world.

In line with Te Ara Huarau, the kura:

  • Uses internal evaluation to understand how well our practices support learner progress, achievement and well being.
  • Designs a localised curriculum that is culturally responsive and anchored in Ngaati Kauwhata aspirations.
  • Builds strong educationally powerful partnerships with whaanau, hapuu, iwi and external pathway providers.
  • Provides coherent pathways planning, ensuring learning is connected, purposeful and future focused.
  • Prioritises equity and excellence, responding to learner voice, data and evidence to improve outcomes.

Ongoing Improvement

Toirangatira Graduate Profile is reviewed through continuous evaluation, asking:

  • How well are our mokopuna progressing and achieving as Toirangatira?
  • What is making the biggest difference for learner pathways and transitions?
  • What do we need to change or strengthen to improve outcomes?

This ensures our kura remains responsive, improvement-focused and accountable to the aspirations of our learners and iwi.
